Job Description
Virginia Western Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education operating under the Virginia Community College System, a statewide system of community colleges. The College operates under the policies established by the State Board for Community Colleges and the Virginia Western Community College Local Advisory Board.
Virginia Western is located on a 70-acre campus in southwest Roanoke, VA. The service region of the College includes Roanoke, Salem, Roanoke County, Craig County, Franklin County, and southern Botetourt County. The College was established in 1966 and has grown from an initial enrollment of 1,352 to its current annual enrollment of over 9,000 students in credit courses and more than 1,400 enrollments in fast-track workforce and continuing education courses.
Virginia Western Community College is accepting applications for a twelve-month professional faculty position, Administrative Officer for Training Solutions (Corporate Training), in the School of Career and Corporate Training (CCT). CCT primarily serves adult learners and is focused on transforming lives and strengthening communities by providing high quality career and workforce training.
Please note this Administrative Officer for Training Solutions is NOT a corporate trainer or instructor for the college, but IS responsible for navigating the life cycle of career and workforce training solutions, continually delivering new and improved courses to market for corporate clients. Current corporate trainers may have adaptable skill sets, but this is not a training position. The incumbent actively assesses/identifies training opportunities, designs and develops the training, successfully implements the courses, and then evaluates results (the ADDIE model). The successful candidate must be willing and able to effectively sell and deliver training/business solutions.
Contract training is on the rise in CCT and the department will be in a steep growth phase for the next several years. The types of corporate/contract training will vary from common (cross-sectoral) skills in business/management/customer service, to a variety of unique technical training topics in the manufacturing, healthcare, and other industry sectors. This position will play a significant role in leading, growing, and sustaining growth in contract training sales, development, and implementation, across a variety of industries in the VWCC service area. The Administrative Officer provides for the development and sales of in-demand training and business solutions. Additionally, this position will effectively develop-or assist in developing-open-enrollment courses as needed and work within a collegial and collaborative framework and mindset.
Administrative Officers are accountable for course revenue and business development goals, set annually in collaboration with the Vice President of CCT. An excellent opportunity for professionals with skills across the domains of adult education (consulting, instructional design, educational programming, facilitation, etc.), Administrative Officers for Training Solutions are at the forefront of providing in-demand training solutions.
