The Health Sciences Academic Operations supports the academic mission of the university and provides leadership guidance and support to the programs housed in the College of Health Professions, and the Schools of Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, and Population Health.

Position Summary & Primary Responsibilities

We're seeking a Finance & Operations Manager to join our team! This position will be responsible for budget oversight for the OSVPHS as well as help in training and change management regarding the Anaplan implementation. This position will assist in developing financial models and analyses to be reviewed and presented to the department's Executive Director, Budget & Finance. In managing the budget, the position will produce monthly, quarterly, and annual financial positioning reports and routinely collect, analyze, and report statistics for senior management decision-making. This position will work closely with the Assistant Deans of finance / Chief Business Officers to ensure the integrity of financial and operational data and performance metrics, implement fiscal policies, and process annual pay increases and other major financial processes. Finally, the position will assist Vice President, Associate Vice President for Finance and Administration, and Associate Vice President for Academic Health Sciences.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, public administration, or related degree and 5 to 7 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

• Thorough knowledge of state and federal guidelines and policies regarding the use of financial resources and comprehension of fiscal management

• Demonstrated ability to work independently, make quality decisions, prioritize multiple assignments, and manage time efficiently

• Excellent accounting, analytical, problem-solving, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills

• Excellent computer skills in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Google Suite

• Experience in accounting and finance with an understanding of budget and accounting systems

• Experience with preparing detailed analyses and professional reports

• Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or a commitment to do so as an employee at VCU

Preferred Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of university guidelines and policies regarding the use of financial resources and comprehension of the fiscal management for VCU, VCU Health Systems, and MCV and VCU Foundations

• Experience in building out financial systems at VCU

• Experience in accounting and finance in a public, higher education institution

• Considerable knowledge of the university's mission and goals, policies for internal control requirements, and reporting
