HMC Mental Health and Addiction Services has an outstanding opportunity for a part-time, temporary/hourly MENTAL HEALTH PRACTITIONER. This position will also provide support to the Screening, Brief Intervention and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) efforts. SBIRT clinical staff members are responsible for conducting alcohol and drug screening of adults presenting at the HMC Emergency Department and Psychiatric Emergency Services Department who are at risk for the continuum of substance use disorders, including use, abuse or dependence. Clinical staff, who have experience and are Certified Chemical Dependency Professionals (CDP) will be trained to provide screening, using standardized screening instruments, and brief intervention services. The CDP will also implement the SBIRT program’s goal to effectively identify and intervene, providing brief interventions and make referrals for chemical dependency assessments, brief treatment and/or treatment based on screening results.The CDP will follow up with clients who have received a referral during a brief intervention, assisting the person to access community providers for chemical dependency assessments and treatment services, mental health services, and/or health care services, as appropriate.

REQUIREMENTS:
A Master's Degree in behavioral sciences, such as psychology, psychiatric nursing, occupational therapy, vocational or educational counseling, or social work OR Bachelor's Degree in nursing or a behavioral science AND three years' of experience in the direct delivery of professional mental health care.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
