All of which has allowed the UW to be nationally recognized as a “Great College to Work For” for five consecutive years.
The University of Washington has a long and rich history of military service that dates back to the namesake of the University, George Washington, who was a veteran. Husky veterans are core contributors to the University’s legacy of leadership and excellence on campus. At the start of the 2016 Winter quarter, there were 504 veterans, 121 active duty service members, 139 National Guard and Reserve members, and over 1,500 military dependents that were students on the UW Seattle campus alone. These students are members of a community that is over 2,300 students strong and share unique life experiences that they bring with them to UW. As the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan come to an end, the number of service members looking to transition to civilian life is projected to continue growing, along with the veteran population on campus. Therefore, building focused programming for student veterans on campus at UW is integral to the successful transition and readjustment to the civilian and academic world.
UW Seattle has an outstanding opportunity for an Assistant Director for Student Veteran Life.
