Visiting Lecturer in Biological Anthropology

The Department of Anthropology at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for a full-time one-year Visiting Lecturer position (non-tenure stream) in biological anthropology, beginning Fall 2024 pending budgetary approval. Candidates must have a PhD in Anthropology or a similar field in hand or a have 2024 defense date scheduled at the time of application.

We seek an individual to teach a broad range of bioanthropology courses. Geographic specialization is open. Teaching responsibilities will include three courses in the Fall term and three courses in the Spring term. The large Introduction to Biological Anthropology course (200 students per course) will be taught each term. Other courses will include an Introduction to Human Evolution course and upper-level seminar courses such as Human Origins. Additional courses will reflect the applicant’s area of expertise.

The online application must include a cover letter that discusses the candidate’s expertise, teaching, and pedagogical approaches. The application must also include a CV, diversity statement, two recent course evaluations if available, two syllabi, and the names/email addresses of three references.
