Job Description
  • Conduct neutral, fact finding forensic interviews of suspected child abuse/neglect victims and/or witnesses to violent crimes within a multidisciplinary team approach involving law enforcement, child protection workers, prosecutors, family/victim advocates, medical specialists and mental health professionals
  • Complete a written summary of the forensic interview and ensure timely dissemination of report to multidisciplinary team members relevant to the investigation
  • Facilitate and/or participates in meetings with multidisciplinary team members and caregivers
  • Testify as a fact witness in civil, dependency, and criminal court proceedings regarding general forensic interview processes and techniques, as appropriate and requested;
  • Participate in peer review with other forensic interviewers as directed
  • Remain current on research involving current trends in forensic interviewing/child abuse investigations, as well as the child advocacy center model, implementing as appropriate/recommended
  • Assist with conducting community based trainings regarding the dynamics of child abuse, when requested
  • Assist with grant writing/reporting as requested, which includes the accurate documentation of daily activity time reporting
  • Participate in on-call CAC procedures as assigned
  • Participate and facilitate, as requested, meetings designed to review/discuss current investigations involving multidisciplinary team members (e.g. law enforcement, child protective services investigators, deputy juvenile officers, medical providers, prosecuting attorney, mental health providers)
  • Provide mentorship/supportive services to practicum students. May assist in mentoring others as appropriate and when requested, in completing forensic services duties.
  • All other duties as assigned

Standard business hours, with on-call rotation

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in related/ relevant area and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary. Licensure as required for position.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in related/relevant area
  • Three (3) years practical experience in the child protection field that includes knowledge regarding child forensic interviewing, child protection, child development, how children disclose abuse, and other dynamics associated with child abuse/neglect
  • History of successful collaboration within a multidisciplinary setting that includes: law enforcement, social service, mental health providers, medical specialists and both criminal and family court
Anticipated Hiring Range

Pay commensurate with education and experience.
Hiring Range: $52,000 annually
Grade: GGS-9E
University Title: Social Worker
