Hiring Department

The Division of Student Affairs touches all aspects of student life for the University of Missouri-Columbia campus. In addition to the administration team, the division hosts the departments including the Dean of Students, Disability Center, MizzouRec, Residential Life and the Student Health & Well-Being office. These departments support Student Engagement & Activities, Fraternity & Sorority Life, Student Accountability & Support, Mizzou Families and Off-Campus Student Services as well as the Counseling Center, Student Health Center and the Wellness Resource office. Overall, the division provides employment to over 800 student staff and 200 staff.

Job Description

Summary

This position provides support to the Office of Finance and Human Resources in the areas ofpayroll, recruitment, data integrity and storage, as well as event coordination.

Essential Functions
  • Supervise bi-weekly payroll procedures for Division of Student Affairs, including user training on timekeeping systems and resolving discrepancies.
  • Manage employee actions such as hires, terminations, and pay adjustments requiring significant attention to detail and accountability.
  • Collaborate with HR team on recruitment, onboarding, and event planning, including scheduling guest speakers, ordering catering, tracking attendance, coordinating logistics, and reporting on progress and outcomes.
  • Utilize various software tools and databases for research, document preparation, and reporting including Microsoft Excel and Word to track data, manage processes, merge documents, summarize reports etc.
  • Proactively respond to the changing needs of a dynamic division, being willing to learn new processes, changes in procedures, contributing to identifying process improvement opportunities.
  • Act as the first point of contact for HR, handling inquiries via phone, email, or in-person. Familiarize with university policies and coordinate correspondence.
  • Oversee office inventory, ensuring adequate supplies and serving as the primary HR contact.
  • Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment, maintaining confidentiality and supporting diversity initiatives.
Supervision Received

Administrative supervision is received from the Sr. HR Manager.

Supervision Exercised

Functional supervision may be exercised over student staff.

Shift

Monday-Friday 8:00-5:00

This position may require evening and weekend hours supporting activities and programs within the department. Occasionally division and campus projects may require additional hours outside of your normal schedule.

This position is Hybrid Eligible.

Minimum Qualifications

An Associate's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficient in professional communication, adept at handling sensitive information while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Skilled in word processing, spreadsheets, and database management, with expertise in Microsoft Excel, MS Word, and PeopleSoft preferred.
  • Strong in reading comprehension, capable of effectively following both written and oral instructions, while demonstrating initiative and a desire for continuous growth.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, adept at managing multiple tasks even in ambiguous situations.
  • Demonstrates good judgment with a strong talent of adaptability and ability to thrive in fast-paced dynamic environments.
  • Proven track record of delivering excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in fostering inclusivity and respecting diverse backgrounds, lifestyles, and viewpoints.
Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $16.72 - $22.91 paid hourly on a bi-weekly basis
