About UC Blue Ash
The University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College Allied Health Department invites applications for our Expanded Functions Dental Auxiliary (EFDA) adjunct faculty general pool of candidates from which part time faculty will be selected for the upcoming term (as needed).
The University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College is one of the largest regional colleges in Ohio and one of the most diverse colleges at the University of Cincinnati. The college is in Blue Ash, Ohio fifteen miles north of the uptown campus, on 135 acres in a park-like setting. We offer primarily associate degrees in career and transition programs, as well as general education courses and technical baccalaureate degrees to approximately 5,100 students. We value excellent teaching and personalized student support to help students achieve their goals, whether the goal is to enter a career or to continue education. Job Overview
On a part-time limited basis, the Adjunct Faculty member's primary academic functions include teaching, discovering, creating, and reporting knowledge to a diverse set of students.
EFDA Faculty responsibilities include: assisting inlab instruction of EFDA students placing amalgam, composite, and glass ionomer restorative materials as well as various bases and liners. Classes will meet weekly on Friday afternoons during academic year. Adjunct instructors are employed on a semester-by-semester basis.
Essential Functions
Primary Functions:
Minimum of an associate degree in a related field.
Required Trainings/Certifications
Must be a Registered EFDA in Ohio as verified in OSDB eLicense portal OR as licensed DDS/ DMD.
Required Experience
Candidates must also have at least two years of clinical practice as an EFDA.
Additional Qualifications Considered
Prior clinical or didactic teaching experience.

- Evaluation and grading of typodonts.
- Evaluate learning and provide feedback for skill development.
- Evaluation and grading of students' skills (hand, ergonomics).
- Demonstrate clinical restorative skills to students on typodont.
- Maintain correct hand skills when demonstrating to students or grading.
- Evaluation and grading of mock board exams.
- Evaluation and grading of final clinical exams.
- Solicit questions to reinforce student's clinical critical thinking skills.
- Effective in communicating with staff and students.
- Model exemplary professional skills and behavior.
- Assist in administration of handouts and other educational materials.
- Assist in monitoring supply inventory.
- Assist in monitoring student's progress.
- Assist in management of difficult learners and dysfunctional behavior.
- Assist in observing students to identify learning needs.
- Assist in fostering development of a competent clinician.
- Assist in lab preparation.
- Attend staff meetings for curriculum revisions, student issues, problems, and decision making.
