Description: The Department of Spanish and Portuguese invites applications for one or more positions as Lecturer in Portuguese, expected to begin September 1, 2024, with the possibility of renewal pending departmental need and satisfactory performance. Appointment duty time will depend upon course enrollments, but we expect to fill at least one full-time position. Opportunity to work in a dynamic program that fosters and supports professional development with potential to mentor graduate student instructors, travel with summer study abroad program, and actively participate in program growth. Native or near-native fluency in Portuguese and English, and proven experience in teaching Portuguese language at all levels and in a University setting essential. Additional proven experience teaching Spanish preferred. Master's degree or enrollment in a Ph.D. program required; Ph.D. or M.A. working toward Ph.D. preferred. Preference will be given to candidates with a background in Linguistics, SLA, or Applied Linguistics and Luso-Brazilian Studies, although other fields will also be considered.
