Job Summary

Part of FIU's Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS), this clinical therapist position works collaboratively with the FIU Pride Center. They provide mental health services to LGBTQIA+ students and allies, and serve in an advisory role to better support the Pride Center students' needs. Duties include:
  • Provides direct psychological services to Pride Center students/clients including individuals, couples, and group counseling. Conducts clinical assessments and formulates diagnoses and treatment plans.
  • Collaborates with departmental staff, other departments, and community organizations to provide therapeutic, advocacy, and support services to Pride Center students.
  • Provides emergency assessments, crisis intervention, and intakes for students. Provides consultations to family members and campus community constituents.
  • Provides on call for crises and emergencies that may fall outside normal business hours (including evenings and weekends) and may be required to work later than scheduled to meet student needs.
  • Completes intake summaries, psychological assessments, emergency evaluations, progress notes, and termination summaries according to the established policies and procedures.
  • Develops and presents educational programs, seminars, and workshops to students and staff.
  • Serve as a member of the Pride Center's advisory team, specifically related to enhancing departmental policies, procedures, programming and services.
  • Attends relevant departmental meetings and trainings within CAPS and Pride Center.
  • Prepares departmental reports as needed.
  • Supports the mission, vision, goals, and objectives of the department and the University.
  • Performs related duties as required or as directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Social Work or related mental health provider discipline and two (2) years of appropriate experience.
  • Mental Health License - Florida includes: Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist or Licensed Mental Health Counselor

  • 8:30am-5:00pm
  • 16-18 hours per week
