Director of Warehousing
Position Purpose:
- The Director of Warehousing will support the mission of Feeding America Southwest Virginia and is responsible for the oversight and management in performing functions to plan, direct, and control operational activities including inventory control, receiving and distribution of product in compliance with Feeding America, Department of Agriculture, OSHA, FASWVA policy and procedures and standards, and other government programs.
- Develops and implements necessary procedures and standards for operation.
- Establishes daily and long-term work plans and schedules insuring cost effective, safe, and efficient operation.
- Maintains a cooperative work team of staff.
- As a member of the Management Team, the incumbent will be responsible to ensure that all activities of the Operations Department support the strategic goals of the Food Bank, and to ensure that all activities are properly coordinated with the other departments within the Food Bank.
- The incumbent will be responsible to represent the Food Bank (directly or through departmental staff) within the Feeding America network and the Virginia Federation of Food Banks in all areas pertaining to food distribution.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
As the Director of Warehousing, he/she will demonstrate a professional demeanor in interactions with all FASWVA staff, agencies, program representative and government officials in ensuring a compliant safe facility and environment.
* Responsible in adhering to policies and procedures of Feeding America Southwest Virginia, Feeding America national office, USDA, FDA and government regulations pertaining to food handling, storage, sanitation and disposal.
* Establish annual goals and objectives for key staff members which are compliant with and ensure the accomplishment of the Food Bank's Strategic Plan.
* Supervise all receiving and distribution and maintain accurate records and inventory.
* Oversees the flow of product through the food bank to include: agency distribution, other food bank distribution, disaster relief, and programs support.
* Oversee the salvage, reclamation, and transfer operations to ensure its safety and efficiency.
* Oversee Product Information System, Inventory and Report Process. The Director of Warehousing reports to the Chief Operating Officer, is an integral member of the senior management team and is responsible for the overall direction and priorities of facility operations.
* Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate all operations staff members.
* Responsible for security control of all locations. Respond to Security and/or Supervisory alarms.
* Ensure effective operations practices as set forth in the Feeding America manual.
* Ensure all Food Bank branches are in compliance with policies and procedures that include but are not limited to:
- Feeding America procedures, OSHA, Health Department, DEA, VA Department of Agriculture, and other government agencies.
- Develops and keeps a maintenance schedule for all Food Bank vehicles and equipment including routine cleaning and preventative maintenance.
* Implements and maintains the warehouse development training program.
* Maintain proper receipts, records, invoices, and other documents regarding product activity.
* Conduct weekly, monthly, and yearly inventory reconciliation process. Maintains and follows effective processes of office communication and administrative procedures.
* Responsible for the accurate and timely completion of all required reports.
* Generate and maintain all shipping, receiving, and distribution documentation.
* Generate all product and inventory reports.
* Ensure all restrictions and requirements for all products are met as requested by donor.
* Provide required information and documentation for VA Department of Agriculture, Roanoke City, Feeding America, and other donor regulatory offices.
* Maintain all inspection reports in conjunction with the Food Safety and Compliance Officer.
* Provide product Donor Reports and documentation as requested.
* Generate reports for Feeding America, VA Department of Agriculture, and other regulatory bodies.
* Ensure that departmental SOP's are current and adhered to per FASWVA policy.
Supervises:
Inventory Accounting Clerk, Warehouse Associates, Drivers, Donor Reclamation Program, Quality Assurance Coordinator, and Invoice Clerk/Administrative Associate
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree from a four-year accredited college or university in business and at least four years of warehouse management experience required.
* Previous leadership experience with responsible decision making authority in the management and evaluation of work assigned to personnel required.
* Strong supervisory and leadership skills, to include delegation, strategic management, motivation, managing conflict, coaching/counseling, mentoring, etc. required.
* Knowledge of food safety handling procedures and regulations preferred.
* Must be a Certified ServSafe and have experience in Health and Safety Regulations of handling food products (or acquire within 60 days).
