Reporting to the Vice President/Program Director, the Deputy Director will be responsible for oversight of operational reporting and assisting in the financial/accounting activities. The Deputy Director will lead all day-to-day operating and financial reporting functions and interface with the operating team, finance team, and external stakeholders. The Deputy Director will ensure that systems and procedures in place effectively support scope, schedule, and budget implementation, and the ability to provide efficient and accurate reports. The Deputy Director collaborates with individuals at all levels and interfaces directly with senior management of the Company regarding business objectives, performance, and reporting. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Direct and coordinate financial planning, analysis, and budget management functions.
- Lead reporting to departments, Bondholder representatives, and government agencies as required
- Monitor and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual results against budget.
- Recommend benchmarks for measuring the financial and operating performance.
- Manage the preparation of financial outlooks and financial forecasts.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements.
- Establish and implement short and long-range financial departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.
- Support financial audits and provide recommendations for operational and financial improvements.
- Liaise and attend meetings and other company functions
- Attend training to develop relevant knowledge and skills
Reporting Oversight:
- Oversee operational reporting to contractors, creditors and government agencies.
- Oversee and maintain control of the Performance Incentive Plan compilation and monthly reporting
- Assist in maintaining internal controls and safeguards for revenues and expenses and serve as point of contact for all payables.
- Coordinate non-financial audit activity including government audits
- Consistently analyze financial data and present financial reports, clearly communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; monitor progress and changes and keep senior leadership abreast of the financial status of the company
- Spearhead the annual budgeting and planning process; administer and review all financial plans and compare to actual results
- Manage organizational cash flow forecasting, continuously collaborating to assess the financial efficacy of financial operations and establish finance and administrative systems to support program operations.
Team Oversight:
- Leverage strengths of current analyst team members, assist with clarification of roles and responsibilities, and develop and implement training programs
- Provide leadership in strengthening internal communications with staff at all levels, create and promote a positive and supportive work environment.
Essential Qualifications:
- Minimum of a BA; CPA or MBA preferred
- 5-7 years of accounting, finance and reporting experience; audit experience preferred. Experience in gathering, evaluating, presenting and reporting to executive teams and external stakeholders.
- Knowledge of GAAP and other accounting and cost control principles
- Strong working knowledge of MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel
- Knowledge and experience of federal and state financial regulations
- Experience with automated financial and accounting reporting systems
- Knowledge and experience with budgeting, forecasting, rolling budgets and profitability analysis
- Strong analytic, organization and problem solving abilities
- Advanced interpersonal and communication skills; ability to present to senior management
- Ability to translate complex financial concepts to all levels, including financial and non-financial managers
- Familiarity with property management software a plus
- Familiarity with databases and reporting software a plus
- Valid Alaska driver’s license and insured, reliable vehicle
