Instructional Designer & Facilitator

Human Resources is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining AARP enterprise-wide human resource strategies, initiatives, policies, procedures and related systems. This includes employee compensation and benefits, organization design and integration, talent acquisition, talent development and employee relations.
The Instructional Designer & Facilitator designs talent development programs and identifies critical workforce requirements (e.g., skills, competencies, and performance outcomes) necessary to achieve current and future business objectives. Plans and implements educational curriculum tools. Identifies topics and partners with internal and external experts to develop curriculum and education content.
Responsibilities
- Designs, develops, implements, evaluates, and sustains skill development programs (i.e., mandatory training, cohort-based programs, open workshops).
- Provides consulting on talent development projects across the organization, including requests to develop/deploy new training activities, sustain ongoing programs, and enhancement requests, highlighting industry best practices and the organization's standards. Consults on the annual assignment and sustainability planning for established mandatory training programs, performs detailed audience analysis, and administers assignments.
- Manages project communication and event promotion to ensure learner engagement, enrollment, and satisfaction.
- Addresses questions and issues identified by learners, facilitators, program owners, and other stakeholders. Ensures inquiries received via shared mailboxes are addressed within one business day of receipt.
- Manages the measurement and reporting of all activities and accomplishments.
- Manages the configuration, testing, and sustainability/maintenance of curricula, courses, classes, and other learning activities within the system, providing oversight and guidance to a colleague, as appropriate.
- Identifies, evaluates, and implements opportunities to engage and educate learners on talent development programs and system features/functionality/procedures.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in learning and development
- 3+ years of experience delivering leadership development or talent management programs
- Skills required include project/program management, facilitation, needs assessment, instructional design, materials development, adult learning theory, social learning design, experiential learning, and consulting skills. Must be fully proficient at developing materials in a variety of formats including slides (typically MS PPT), participant guides, facilitator guides, handouts, activity directions, etc,.
- Experience in training evaluation, specifically in measuring learning transfer, learning impact and ROI is preferred
- Master's degree is required - Education Technology, Instructional Design, Education, Leadership Development, Org. Development, or Industrial/Org Psychology. Bachelor's degree in Education, Adult Learning, Org Psychology/Development or related field
- Looking for certifications in the following areas/from the following providers:
- Clifton Strengths, Meyer's Briggs Type Indicator, Thomas Kilmann Conflict Instrument, ROI Certification, ATD Certified Professional in Talent Development

- In office/open office environment with the ability to work effectively surrounded by moderate noise
Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)
AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.
